Audio Art
A soundscape is an artwork just as a painting is. A painting is only experienced with our eyes, our visual senses Audio-art is made for the sense of hearing. But sound has as many colours and structures as paint does. Listen to the soundscapes, preferably with headphones and with eyes closed. Indulge in the sound as it travels through your head and experience an abundance of emotions, as it paints you a picture. All sounds used in the soundscapes are recorded and edited by Nathalie Abbing.

The Sounds of Glass

A soundscape made with the sounds of handling, rubbing and breaking drinking glasses. (Listening advice: listen with headphones on and closed eyes to the soundscape Glass.)

A drinking glass is the item used at many happy occasions. It has its own happy sounds, it can even sing. On the other hand, when glass breaks its sharpness is revealed and becomes dangerous. The dangerous sharpness also has its own sounds. Nathalie finds melody among the eerie noises.

Repeat

A soundscape of the city Den-Bosch. Made with sounds recorded in the Dutch inner-city of Den-Bosch. The soundscape takes you around in the heart of this city beginning at the train station. The sounds coming from the shoemaker shop makes up the rhythm. We encounter different street musicians and hear the bells of the St.John cathedral before returning to the train station. (Listening advice: stand with headphones on and closed eyes in front of a running ventilator while listening to the soundscape Repeat.)
