Bones
Road kills, prey brought home by her cats, dead presents from friends or people who know about her art, digging up buried pets and even left overs from a nice meal. It’s all material for Nathalie’s art.
From the "see the process - how" link below, Nathalie shows the dismembering of a dead stork to retrieve the bones for her creations. Once they are harvested and cleaned, the bones from different animals are carefully pieced together to create a new creature. They look self-evident, like they are from an undiscovered species, each with their own demeanor. Finally most of the creature is gilded with 24 carat gold leaf, with some parts still remaining visible. The sculptures are fragile, like glass of the same measure, but they are well protected in their custom made glass cubes. In there they stand on a mirror with nibbled edges. The mirror reflects a nice soft light and provides an extra dimension to the sculptures.

What if we all had a tail? No, not a pony tail on your head but a real tail, like the one from a rat. You know, down your back, just above your bum. There where the tail once was remains no more than a little hump. That was when man were not humans yet, and maybe a closer family to the hare. When we still walked on four paws or legs. That’s when we had a tail over there. Very convenient for some extra support. Or to use it as an handy third hand. So you can scratch these unreachable spots - that can be very nice, you understand.
