- The Big Blue
A poem - by Natalie Abbing
Waves entice me
White feathers caress
In a warm embrace
Soft and gentile
The water carries
Uplifting and free
I can’t resist
The far horizon
I won’t go back
To steady shores
Waves entice me
White fangs hold on
In a strong grip
Cold and breath taken
The water drowns
Under and compelling
I can’t resist
The deep blue
I don’t go back
To fight my wars
MOTIVATION
I wrote this poem for my husband Paul. He used to be a great wind-surfer. We both love the sea, or the ocean as we have here in Portugal. We are both intrigued by that thin line on the horizon between the water and the sky. But we also know that the big blue can be rather deceptive.
